Ali Filipovich

Costume, Crafts and Fashion Design

Alexandra Filipovich or more often referred to as Ali Flip is originally from Minnesota. From there, she went to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Technical Design, with an emphasis on costumes and a second major in Spanish. After her time, in Wisconsin, she moved to Minneapolis working as a dyer and costume technician at Vstar Entertainment while carrying out freelance costume design at various places in the Twin Cities area.  Next, she moved to Decorah, Iowa where she worked as the Costume Shop Supervisor at Luther College. Her time at this job solidified her desire to advance her education in this field leading her to the University of Memphis for a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Costume Design. After graduating in the spring of 2022, she began as the Costume Shop  Manager at Ballet Memphis and continued to freelance as a costume designer, draper, and adjunct professor. Currectly she is working as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design at the University of Memphis. In this role she contiunes to teach 3-4 courses a semester, mentor undergradate and graduate designers, oversee the 6 main productions on the season, and continues to freelance.
