Costume, Crafts and Fashion Designer
Emerging Stop Motion Artist
Ali Flip received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Technical Design, with an emphasis on costumes and a second major in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and recieved her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Costume Design from the University of Memphis (UM). Ali has worked in my different locations to grow and expand her career from Minneapolis, Memphis, to Salem. In Minneapolis, Ali worked as a dyer and costume technician at Vstar Entertainment (in the creature shop creating Mascots like Paw Patrol Live and Seasome Street Characters) while carrying out freelance costume design work at various places in the Twin Cities area. In Memphis, TN after graduate school at UM she worked as the Costume Shop Manager at Ballet Memphis, freelanced as a costume designer, draper, and adjunct professor at UM. Then got the opportunity to work as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design at the University of Memphis. In this role she taught 3-5 courses a semester, mentored undergraduate and graduate designers, oversaw the 6 main productions on the season, and continued to freelance in various costume related roles. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Costume Design at Salem State University, teaching, designing, and mentoring students. She contunues to freelance as a costume designer and draper professionaly in her spare time. In additon, she has begun her journey in Stop Motion Film Annimation. She recently recevied her certificate for Stop Motion 1 through the Aardman Academy and created her first Stop Motion Animation Short Film.
