Ali Filipovich

Costume, Crafts and Fashion Design

Alexandra Filipovich or more often referred to as Ali Flip is originally from Minnesota. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Technical Design, with an emphasis on costumes and a second major in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She recieved her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Costume Design from the University of Memphis. Ali has worked in my different locations to grow and expand her career. In Minneapolis she worked as a dyer and costume technician at Vstar Entertainment while carrying out freelance costume design at various places in the Twin Cities area.  Next, she moved to Decorah, Iowa where she worked as the Costume Shop Supervisor at Luther College. Then moved to Memphis, TN for graduate school and after graduating she worked as the Costume Shop  Manager at Ballet Memphis and continued to work as a freelance costume designer, draper, and adjunct professor. Then worked as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Costume Design at the University of Memphis. In this role she taught 3-5 courses a semester, mentored undergradate and graduate designers, oversaw the 6 main productions on the season, and continued to freelance. Currently she is an Assistnat Profesor of Costume Design at Salem State University, teaching, designing, and mentoring students. Along with contunuing to freelance desgin and drape professionaly in her spare time.
